Limbo? ATW has been closed for years now, having been replaced by ITRC. The front page of ATW says as much. The ATW archives do remain, but I'd not expect the area is being maintained; I've seen little evidence of any on-going maintenance and I've not seen any indication that HP is looking to re-open the area. It might well be entertaining to start up a Q&A area over at HoffmanLabs as the CMS I have been populating with content does offer discussion forums capabilities, though that is also fodder for another time. For some definitions of "entertaining". The HL answer to the "When is OpenVMS being ported to x86-64?" question is already queued and ready to go, since it is almost certain somebody around would visit and ask that one. :-) I'd expect that answering these sorts of Q&A questions can be a substantial effort -- and that a discussion forum like ITRC works rather better than an ATW-like forum. This for various reasons. As for the question, HP apparently supports access to this thermal info via its monitoring and management software product. The temperature_vector itemcode is specific to a few Alpha boxes, and I've seen no evidence its having been documented. Try a few web searches. IIRC, this has been discussed. WEBES/WEBEM and the SNMP MIBs are the usual recommendation, and AFAIK what HP supports and documents. -- www.HoffmanLabs.com Services for OpenVMS ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 4 Feb 2007 15:56:44 +0000 (UTC) From: moroney@world.std.spaamtrap.com (Michael Moroney) Subject: Re: F$GETSYI("TEMPERATURE_VECTOR") questions Message-ID: JF Mezei writes: >1- Does F$GETSYI("TEMPERATURE_VECTOR") return a string for an/all alpha and >IA64 machines ? Off the top I don't recall which, and they're quite similar -- if it was a yet a third bus used in the boxes. I'd probably look to port Bonjour to OpenVMS. Apple itself lists Appletalk (AFS and otherwise) as something new applications should not implement. I haven't seen PATHWORKS Macintosh or the Alisa pieces in the wild in eons. (If there's call for it -- and there's not already a product around -- HoffmanLabs can be contracted to provide Bonjour.) -- www.HoffmanLabs.com Services for OpenVMS ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 4 Feb 2007 18:16:10 +0100 From: usenet@hoffart.de (Goetz Hoffart) Subject: Re: Wanted: Alisashare / Alisatalk for VMS / VAX Message-ID: <1ht0vrz.o6tbg11eoan4rN%usenet@hoffart.de> Stephen Hoffman wrote: > I'd probably look to port Bonjour to OpenVMS.
