You can re-AUTOGEN and reboot all day before this particular problem will get fixed. You need to edit modparams.dat and increase (either via _MIN or _ADD style paramters) the global sections, then AUTOGEN. IMHO I'd make it 280 + 20% (336), so you have room for the next thing you install. ------------------------------ Date: 23 Jul 2007 07:33:19 -0500 From: koehler@eisner.nospam.encompasserve.org (Bob Koehler) Subject: Re: create/term/detach error Message-ID: In article <1184985477.424727.210500@i13g2000prf.googlegroups.com>, rtk writes: > I made the change and ran AUTOGEN with GETDATA and SETPARAMS. The "next thing..." is probably the rest of DECwindows/MOTIF/CDE and then the next product entered in startup (which doesn't complain itself, but simply doesn't work, maybe). 336 is almost nothing in my eyes ;-) I would still recommend values in the UPPER hundreds (I use 1024) as a start. (1024-3072 seems normal, but I've systems w/ GBLSECTIONS up to 32000 in use) If all products are installed/configured/running and you begin to fine tune, then remove the MIN_GBL_SECTIONS=1024 from MODPARAMS.DAT again and totally rely on the AUTOGEN FEEDBACK mechanism for GBLSECTIONS (if you really like)... It suits me very well and I've even managed to make one or two additions (from newer MMS versions) to the special macros it recognizes. It would be nice to have it recognize the MMS syntax for conditionals but I've never had a chance to dig into it that deeply. For now I'm suspending my quest for whatever the other utility was that I saw. But I do know that it wasn't named anything similar to MMS, MMK, make, or gmake. Thanks to all who offered help. That update does not have the mnt/umnt stuff in it, as that requires VMS 8.3. It also has an update to the "ln" and "rm" commands that I do not think are in the GNV V2.1-1 kit. Only Alpha 8.2 binaries are provided.
