That's considered odd behavior (not a feature), but is real behavior. Not knowing it's implementation, I suspect, but have never tested, it might be able to change compaction settings between physical blocks. Obviously INIT and BACKUP don't change that setting during a single operation. Dependencies are not limited by textual code, but may include many other dependencies; such as third-party object files, unloaded database tables, and configuration files that may need their attributes (owner, protection, organization, indices) preserved. In the very rich OpenVMS (often mission-critical) environment it does make very good sense to choose a repository that can accurately preserve and coordinate as many SW configuration aspects as practically possible. I am currently evaluating a third party software application for my Mac which has German and French language support. To enable the French version, you have to change the system wide language preferences so that French comes above German. Yep, it works, but doing that had the unexpected side effect of switching at least one other application from English (my default) to French. > But I digress ... To digress further. I sorted out international date formats about 25 years ago for layered software on VMS (think ease of data entry via the numeric keypad). It's a bit more complex than the D/M/Y versus M/D/Y thing, and on the OS X platform it looks like I have to revisit that area, possibly rolling my own solution again (Yuk). An initial foray into this area shows that Apple have deprecated a load of UTC routines, so that's at least one avenue I don't want to go down. The ACE protocol uses messages that include IP addresses. These addresses can get mis-interpreted when NATing occurs. Apparently this is fixed in a later version. But which version? Which is perfectly OK since they are treating competitors of BitTorrent who use other P2P protocols in a similar fashion and therefore presumably do not have any special relationship with those competitors which could be seen as providing an anticompetive advantage. The problem with P2P applications is that as well as the few companies legally selling movies and other content through them there are also lots of others illegally distributing copyrighted content. If the ISPs do nothing about these illegal distributions then they face the possibility of legal sanctions from the representatives of the Movie and Record industries. Here is an article about AT&T discussing filtering in an attempt to placate the R.I.A.A and M.P.A.A which was published in January http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/01/08/att-and-other-isps-may-be-getting-ready-to-filter/index.html The problem of course is how you determine the legal from the illegal P2P download it's much easier just to block P2P totally. But even that won't work for long because the P2P networks will just move to using encryption over port 443 to evade deep packet inspection. I remember that years ago, someone has tried to build mod_python. But Python set numbers of crtl features and some of these features break CSWS. Message-ID: <20080605160935.GA53107@mech-aslap33.men.bris.ac.uk> I'm trying to share hostkeys between all cluster members so that ssh connection doesn't complain about changed keys in the event of ip failover. In the process I realised there are several ssh2 directories with hostkeys. They even appear in small and capital letters for some reason, see below. Why do I need to have ssh2 directories under SYS$SPECIFIC and under TCPIP$SSH? It appears that enabling and starting ssh server via TCPIP$CONFIG.COM put the files under SYS$SYSDEVICE:[TCPIP$SSH.SSH2] So what program places the keys under SYS$SPECIFIC? many thanks anton $ dir [*...]hostkeys.dir Directory SYS$SYSDEVICE:[SYS0.SYSMGR.ssh2] hostkeys.DIR;1 Total of 1 file. SSH run by SYSTEM? SYS$SYSDEVICE:[SYS*.SYSMGR.ssh2] is under SYSTEM's home directory. Whose host keys are in these directories? Around here, SYS$SYSROOT:[SYSMGR.SSH2.HOSTKEYS] (ODS2) holds host key files for (mostly) other systems which SYSTEM has used SSH to contact, and SYS$SYSDEVICE:[TCPIP$SSH.SSH2.HOSTKEYS] is empty. The last version of the Language Reference Manual and the User Guide that I have are for version 6.5. The part number on the contract is QA-MU7AA-GZ and I have confirmed that the part number is listed in the current HP/DEC C SPD. What was the last version of HP/DEC C to get a printed manual update ?
