VAX SYSTEMS SIG TAPECOPY PROJECT - FALL 1985 The Fall 1985 VAX SIG tape (as has been the practice for several years) contains three VMS backup savesets. They are VAX000, VAX85C and VAX85D. VAX000 and VAX85C will fit on one 2400' reel of tape when recorded at 1600 bpi. VAX85D will fit on one 2400' reel of tape at 1600 bpi. NOTE: THIS TAPE IS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER RECENT TAPES IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER. Many of the submissions used filenames which were incompatible with older versions of VMS. In order to make the tape easier to handle for people who have not switched over to version 4 we renamed those files to something compatible with VMS version 3.x and included command procedures (AAARENAME.COM) to reverse the operation. We also included AAAV4RENM.COM procedure's on [VAX85C] and [VAX85D] to drive all the individual AAARENAME.COM's and AAADIRRNM.COM's to restore the original version 4 directory names. Do NOT execute the AAADIRRNM.COM's. The AAAVRRENM.COM's will do so just before they exit. We did not produce command procedures to invert the action of the AAARENAME.COM's, the AAAV4RENM.COM's and the AAADIRRNM.COM's. Therefore, after you execute them, in order to made a version 3 compatible tape you need to go back to the original. ANOTHER DIFFERENCE is that the index is missing. In order to help keep the preparation time on this tape down I am not holding it up for indexing. I expect to put the index for this tape and an updated master index on the Spring 1986 tape. This tape was put together from submissions at the Fall 1985 DECUS Symposium, Anaheim, CA, December 1985, by Joe Bingham Glenn Everhart Librarian, VAX Systems SIG RCA A&D Engineering ManTech Services Corporation and Rt 38, Bldg 206-1 2320 Mill Road Cherry Hill Alexandria, VA 22314 New Jersery 08358 (703) 838-5600
