TEDI RELEASE NOTES VAX/VMS Version Clair W. Nielson Los Alamos National Laboratory Los Alamos, New Mexico 87545 May 13, 1981 This release of VMS TEDI is accompanied by a new writeup for the editor. The previously distributed writeup, "The TEDI Formatter", remains current for formatting. Several bugs have been fixed. One change is introduced: the first arugment of the Set Indent command, "SIi,j" is now interpreted as the number of spaces to indent, not the index of the first column. This requires using a number one less than previously. In addition, multiple +'s and -'s now work in indent mode. The "Tape" commands WT, CTA, and CTB are added for use with TI cassettes or Tektronix cartridges, the latter working at up to 9600 baud. Users are reminded of two differences between VMS TEDI and other versions: (1) Replacement strings are remembered and invoked with the null string so that replacement commands may not be used for deletions-- delete commands must be used. (2) DO commands default to one line and must be terminated with the NDO command (nested and multiple line DO's are now possible). A simple DO is of the form DOP*/pat/...../NDO INSTALLATION If only one user on a system is using TEDI, TEDI.EXE may as well be in his directory. He should define a symbol in his LOGIN.COM file of the form TEDI:=$DB1:[NIELSON]TEDI If more than one user is expected to use TEDI, the system manager should put TEDI.EXE in a suitable library directory and put a definition similar to the above in the universal LOGIN.COM file. Efficiency advantages will be gained by "Installing" TEDI. If only a few users will use TEDI, install TEDI.EXE with the switches /OPEN/SHARED. If several users will be using it, install with the switches /OPEN/SHARED/HEADER.
