INSTALLATION If you received your copy of REMINDER on a floppy distribution you can use the VMSINSTAL procedure to install it. *** CAUTION *** Before beginning, the logical name "USR" MUST be pointing to the area in which REMINDER is to be kept. (see below) Use the following command to install a floppy-based distribution: $ @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL REMIND CSA1: If the REMINDER saveset is located on another node, use the following command to install it: $ @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL REMIND NODE::DEVICE:[ACCOUNT] Note: The NODE name CANNOT contain embedded username and password. This means that the REMINDER saveset should be placed in the DEFAULT network account on the remote node. Note also that the appropriate device and account MUST be specified, even though this is defaulted through the NODE name. ( now continue with Step 7 below ) For other distributions, proceed as described below: REMINDER expects to be run from an area defined by the system-wide logical name USR: (something like ASSIGN/SYSTEM sys$sysdevice:[UTILITY] USR) (wherever you put your non_DEC user programs) le;Insure that users are not running REMINDER during this update 1. Define a SYSTEM logical name USR to point to REMINDER 2. Put REMINDER.EXE in USR 3. Put FIXREMIND.COM in USR (see HELP file for use of this tool) 4. Install USR:REMINDER.EXE with qualifiers /OPEN/HEAD/SHARE (optional) 5. Insert REMINDER.HLP in sys$help:HELPLIB.HLB REMINDER Installation Guide (Version 4.2) Page 4 6. Define a system-wide command of the form "REMIND*ER:==$USR:REMINDER" 8. Each user of REMINDER should have the following line in his/her LOGIN.COM file "$ REMIND/ASK/LOG ME" (the /LOG or /ASK qualifiers are optional).
