Boston is a new font of type that produces letter quality printing on the Imagewriter. Boston is more legible than any other font, both on the screen and printed out. It's even more legible than a daisywheel. Boston also includes many common symbols that the standard fonts omit, plus five fractions, and a full complement of Greek letters. Nearly three dozen extra characters in all. (You'll find a cribsheet of the keyboard layout in BOSTONKEY). Boston comes in six sizes, 9-, 10-, 12-, 18-, 20- and 24-point. Nine-point is comparable in size to elite (12-pitch) typewriting. Ten-point is comparable in size to pica (10-pitch) typewriting. Twelve-point is comparable in size to Geneva 12 or New York 12. Install it as you would install any other font, using Font Mover. Feel free to give it to anyone you like. However, the font is copyrighted, and the time involved in producing it represents part of the designer's (hardly vast) income. So if you use it, please pay for it. For a license, send $10 to: Charles E. Maurer 31 Forsyth Avenue South Hamilton, Ontario L8S 2A4 Canada IF YOU ALREADY HAVE BOSTON, please check whether you have the latest version. This document describes 1.7 and does not include some features of 1.8. Briefly: 1.8 allows suppression of CRC checking, and adds a "fast-track receive option." When using FreeTerm with MACSnVAX, do not use either CRC checking or "fast-track receive." "Fast-track receive" is valuable when downloading from CompuServe. It makes XModem downloads run at nearly full 1200 baud; normally XModem is slowed down by network turnaround. It does so by sending a constant stream of ACKS so that the host never stops transmitting. In effect it converts XModem from an error-correcting protocol to an error-detecting one. It is of value only with CompuServe (and possibly other packet networks?) YAPU yapu Application 18K 24-DEC-1985 16:32:11 This version of yapu (1.2) fixes an oversight (a.k.a. bug). When retrieving the filename of the text file to be printed, I neglected to do anything with the volume reference number. Now that I have corrected it, yapu no longer has to reside on the same disk as the file to be printed. We can now print any text file on any disk. What will they think of next? I wrote yapu to learn C and also provide a simple print utility for my source code and other text files. It got a little out of hand. In any case, the following options can be set by the user: ff and lf strip, tab stops, tab expansion to spaces, and pitch (pica, elite, etc.). TEXT file filter. Prints filename, day, date, time, and page number on top of page. Written in Mac C (c) 1984 Consulair Corp. Portions of the program Copyright (c) Consulair Corp. ...Andy O'Brien [73766,1517]
