What do these #defines control, and what values are >allowable? #define NNTP_CACHE 3 If you are caching text files from a remote NNTP server, this is the default cache lifetime in days. If you are running as a standalone system the constant is not used. #define NEWGROUP_REG 0 When new newsgroups are created, this dtermines whether users will get registered in the newsgroups automatically by default : 0 is pretty sensible as a default. >I also have a problem with the NEWS.SYS file. The simple answer is that the remote system which is feeding you should have the same filter on their entry for your system. NEWS stores everything it gets: if it is not accepted into the newsgroups, it will be placed in junk (which should have a short lifetime). Placing them in junk does allow you to check your current filter settings, and adjust if required. To not get items, then the feed site should use the same filter definition as yourself. Geoff Huston
