Welcome to the vmsnet.sources archive mailserver. The files here were posted to the vmsnet.sources newsgroup, intended primarily for VAX/VMS software. The PMDF MAILSERV facility is a mail server that will return files that are requested via mailserv commands. The commands are send as the body of a mail message to mailserv@cerritos.edu. Currently the following commands are available: HELP - sends a help file (this file). This command takes no parameters. INDEX - sends an index of all files currently available on the MAILSERVer. This command takes no parameters. INFO - sends a help file. This command is the same as HELP and takes no parameters. SEND - sends the requested file. You can specify a directory, filename, and file type when using the SEND command. Device (and logical) names are ignored. In particular, you do not need to include the logical name PMDF_MAILSERV_FILES_DIR. Some examples of valid send commands (given that the files exist): SEND HELP.TXT SEND [PBMPLUS]PART01.SHARE SEND [PBMPLUS]PART02.SHARE Notes: Wildcards are not supported. There is a limit of 20 commands per mail message. Do not use REPLY to get more stuff from MAILSERV. MAILSERV-REPLY is used as a place for bounced mail to go. It won't handle requests. Mailserv uses the From: address to return information. This should be a legal domain name (i.e user@a.b.c) so that we can use our routing rules to get the reply back.
