So far so good. As part of the process, I installed the domain server. As near as I can tell, it isn't working. Any and all queries for other than the root get an error. So, I break out the trouble shooting guide for the domain server and following the instructions I find that the cache is empty: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HULK::$1$DIA2:[.SYSMGR]$ domain/print Name tree: Lock 0008B610: 0 Lock 0008B924: 0 Name 0008B904: [root] Zone list: Lock 0008B61C: 0 Keep current list: Lock 0008B63C: 0 Forwarder list: Lock 0008B62C: 0 Preferred address list: Lock 0008B648: 0 HULK::$1$DIA2:[.SYSMGR]$ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- or, at least, that's how I interpret it. This is a little odd, since I did (I believe) put together a correct startup and zone files: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ; Startup file for domain server primary dmc.com domsdir:dmc-com.zone_master primary 1.1.192.in-addr.arpa domsdir:1-1-192.zone_master -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And the zone master files are: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ; ; Zone master file for dmc.com ; ; Modified: ; ; 0.000 Dick Munroe 17-Mar-92 ; Initial version created. ; @ in soa thehulk.dmc.com. What, if anything, is going on with my DNS requests? Is there a bug in DOMAIN/PRINT? Why doesn't the name server respond? I've included my INTERNET.CONFIG file below, just in case there is a problem there. I can get by without the name server for a while, but not forever. Any and all help is very much appreciated.
