Check the file SYS$MANAGER:DECW$SERVER_0_ERROR.LOG for two things: First, check to see that the TCPIP transport is actually starting. You should see a message like: DECW$TRANSPORT_TCPIP image base address: 00189000 %DECW-I-ATTACHED, transport TCPIP attached to its network If you don't see that, you aren't starting the TCPIP transport. In that case, check out the file SYS$MANAGER:DECW$PRIVATE_SERVER_SETUP.TEMPLATE. THe second thing to look for in SYS$MANAGER:DECW$SERVER_0_ERROR.LOG is for the error message when the connection is rejected. It will look something like: 30-JUN-1992 13:40:07.5 Invalid access from transport: TCPIP node: aerobi user: ? where aerobi is the name of my DECStation. You will notice that the user is ?. The TCPIP transport does not pass the username, so that entry in the security window must be * or ?. I usually use *. > This may be a simple RTFM question. I never tell anyone to RTFM about DECWindows, since what little FM there are have very little information. > Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong here?
