At long last, the new version of the public domain Ethernet monitoring program ETHERMON (V2.4) is finally released! It now officially supports VMS V5.4-3 and up, supports FDDI interfaces like the DEMFA, and can invoke custom-made real-time analyzers to decipher packets as they fly by instead of waiting to analyze a disk file later. The new version has been extensively beta-tested by a loyal group of users scattered around the globe, and I would like to thank all of them for their assistance and feedback. Thanks a lot, guys! You made it possible to really burn this one in before it got sent out into the world. A VMS BACKUP saveset, ETHERMON_V24.BCK, is available for anonymous FTP from Internet host gw.syr.ge.com; there is an accompanying .FDL file to help you reconstruct it if your system needs it (fixed length 4096-byte records in the saveset file). The product will be turned over to the DECUS VAX Systems Sig Librarian for inclusion on the Fall '92 DECUS tape. If you have any questions, you can contact me via e-mail, but please try to read the user's manual _first_. Thanks again for your support, folks. P.S. V2.4-1 is in the works (mostly addition of new analysis tools). Let me know if there's anything you think is missing in V2.4. Enjoy!
