I have discovered that the HPWD function returns the wrong hash under some conditions. I'm not sure what causes the problem, but I think it is username length. I have only tested this on accounts with 5 or fewer characters in the username, and I assumed my routine worked since I tested it for many cases. But I think that is where the bug lies. I have some code for that routine that DEC wrote, so I will try plugging that code in and try again. I knew my code was pretty dependent on the VAXC compiler, but I wasn't sure how off it was. Now I've found that the latest gcc compiler will not make the demo (v2.3.3). The previous version did. I will try to fix the bug and get out the fixed version as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, someone has expressed an interest in making the code ANSI C compatible. -Shawn ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shawn A.
