First you must convert the fonts using the Font compiler then placing 
the fonts under the [.user_*] directories pointed to by DECW$FONT.

To Compile a font issue the command

	$ FONT <bdf-input-font>

Now, under VMS 5.4-2 and below you must restart the X Server by issuing
the following command:

	@Sys$Manager:DECW$Startup Restart

and answering "yes" to the question asked.

Under VMS 5.4-3 and above you will need to first run the following command
procedure located in SYS$UPDATE:

	@SYS$UPDATE:DECW$MKFONTDIR.COM

Which will build the special font files for the server.  Then if you have
the xset utility you may issue the command xset -fp rehash to take advantage
of your new fonts.  Otherwise, restart the X Server.
