If so, how can it be done? The RRD42 is actually a Sony CDU-541 with a slightly modified controller, so that it shows up as an RRD42 rather than a Sony. When used on a VAX, the "mode" jumper of the back of the physical drive is linked. For use on a PC, this link should be cut. I've connected a very small switch to this link and fitted it in the right hand side flange of my external RRD42 so that I can move it between systems by flicking the switch - the jumper controls the "Block size" of the drive. I use an Adaptec 1542B SCSI adapter with Adaptec's SCSI CD drivers - You select the SOny driver if you are using ASW-410 s/w. No problems. The system I'm using is actually a 486/50, but this should make no difference. The drive also works very nicel;y with Windows NT (aka VMS for the 1990s) on the same configuration. Nick
