I have learned that POSIX uses EXE$GL_USRUNDWN to establish a system-wide user rundown procedure---something in there, I think, is checking to see if the terminal fields were changed and is resetting them. Weird stuff, for sure. Does anybody have the VMS v5.5 source listings? Let me know, if you do; this part of POSIX might be in the listings....
