Another major point.  The reason that I found "scratch" as a logical
comes from my own use of the program earlier; the logical gets created
at the "open/read" statement, not earlier (surprisingly).
Among my errors, and even successes (which Carl is presumably correct
in pointing out to be luck), I did not embed the snippet into the
final product with enough care to almost-reserved words.  Presumably
a few deassigns will handle it, but  a) someone else will fix it better;
b) I am currently pressed for time with other things.

Thus, WARNING: If you use nodeinfo.com as posted earlier, you will be
left with a possibly dangerous definition of a logical "scratch".
(Fortunately this is not SYS$SCRATCH).
