This post will answer you and also should serve as a thankful response to those helpful folks (and should answer the requests for info that I recieved as well). InfoServer 100/150 software is currently at revision 2.1. This revision applies both to the server software and the VMS client software. Version 2.1 runs on both the InfoServer 100 and 150. Approximately a year ago DEC changed the distribution policy for InforServer software. Prior to that point it had been included in the CON_DIST, however after that point you had to have a special media support line item added to your software support contract (note: we never recieved any notification of this change - I only found this out after several days of digging...). Fortunately, I have been assured by no less than three sources at DEC that beginning with the September 1992 CON_DIST the InfoServer software will again be included. The September CON_DIST will contain 2.1 and will be out by mid-September according to my information. The InfoServer 2.1 software also includes a separate layered product called F11CD. This product requires VMS 5.5 or higher and requires no special license to run. I installed F11CD yesterday. It takes about 10 minutes to install on a MVII, but does require a reboot of the system to take effect. Once it is installed you get two new commands - CD_MOUNT and CD_DISMOUNT. These commands are functional equivalents of MOUNT and DISMOUNT, but they are CD-aware. The documentation for F11CD is sparse (I am being polite). I had to call CSC, as I kept getting a 'nonexistant process' error when trying to CD_MOUNT an ISO-9660 CD. It turns out that the first time you mount an ISO CD you need to put /PROC=F11CACP on your CD_MOUNT command. The first time you mount a High Sierra CD you need to put /PROC=F11DACP on your CD_MOUNT command. Also, you must create a service name IN ODS2 NAME SPACE on the InfoServer in order to mount the CD. The InfoServer automounts ISO and H-S CD's, but does not create a service in ODS2 space. The command InfoServer> CREATE SERVICE ISOROM FOR DK2: CLASS ODS_2 will create the service ISOROM, which can then be bound in ESS$LADCP to get a device which CD_MOUNT can use. Here is a quick summary/example of mounting an ISO-9660 CD: InfoServer> CREATE SERVICE ISOROM FOR DK2: CLASS ODS_2 LADCP> BIND/SYSTEM ISOROM LADCP> EXIT $ CD_MOUNT/PROC=F11CACP DAD$ISOROM Again, thanks to the folks here who helped point me in the right direction, and thanks to CSC, as they were an invaluable resource in getting all this sorted out finally.
