Agreed!

What I've seen from time to time with various Unix implementations of UUCP
seems to be a confusion with sending extra linefeed characters at the wrong
time.

I have all of my Unix neighbor sites use the following "Systems" file
login/chat script when calling VMS machines:


"" \d\d\d\d\r\d\d\r\d\d\r\c Username:-\r\r-Username: UU_neighbor\rpassword\r

Note:
        Initial 4 second delay to let modems settle.
        \r with 2 second delay for autobaud
        \r with 2 second delay for autobaud (just in case)
        Expect Username: prompt from my VMS machine
        Once you have "Username:" prompt, VMS typeahead is fine to immediately
        blast the password without having to wait for a "Password:" prompt.
