To stop console messages on standalone VAXstations or DEC 3000 workstations
you need to:

 define/sys opc$opa0_anable "TRUE"

This should be done early during booting, eg in sylogicals. If you machine is 
already booted then you need to edit your startup procedures to do the define
and reboot as it is only checked at startup.
