One is the database of who can connect to the server, the second is the database of folks who can modify the first database. The entries beginning with "_" are modifications to the second database. Unfortunately, your average X server only has one database and as a result the commands issued as part of the LOGIN process tear down the database and make it impossible for anyone to connect to it. The only way under early versions of DECwindows to get this to work is to set the server so it does not accept security commands from a remote client. I believe under Motif you can disable all of this security database mucking around with a logical name. *Sigh* I miss having the soruce code for those DEC X windows applications.
