		What VMScluster Features Do You Need?


    Here is an opportunity for you to help make software development
    on VMSclusters easier!  The VMScluster group is looking for input 
    on what software features we can provide to help you take advantage
    of the availability and scalability of VMSclusters from within your 
    applications.

    We have listed several examples of feature requests which we 
    have heard from the development community.  This is only a 
    starting point for your input.  The sky is the limit!  Please
    tell us the features you need along with the technical or business 
    problems it will solve.
 
    Attached is a questionnaire which we would appreciate if you would 
    fill out with any input you have.

			VMScluster Features Questionnaire


  1. Listed below are cluster features which have previously been requested.
     Please indicate your need for such a feature under the "Need" column.  A
     1 would mean you have no need for such a feature, and a 5 would mean
     you really need the feature.  If you rate something as a 4 or 5, any
     additional information you could provide on specific usage or problems
     solved would be appreciated.

	   Cluster Wide Mailboxes

		Allow processes to use mailbox communication between
		nodes in a VMScluster.

	   Cluster-wide Process to Process Communications

		Provide a protocol independent interface for performing
		process to process communication between VMScluster nodes.

	   Cluster Wide Global Sections

		Provide the ability to have cluster wide global sections.

	   Cluster Wide Logicals		

		Allow logicals to be defined as cluster wide logicals.  A
		change propagates to all cluster nodes.  New cluster
		members automatically inherit all cluster wide logicals.

	   Provide Better Recovery Characteristics for the Lock Manager

		Currently, if a node or process dies, all locks held by
		that node or process are deleted.  Allow for other mechanisms
		to assist in recovery after a failed node or process.

	   Provide Better Locking Statistics

		Provide locking statistics per resource tree.

	   Better Cluster Programming Documentation

		Improve the documentation for developing cluster aware 
		applications.

     solve and how this will help your development needs.  Any additional 
     information you could provide on specific usage or problems solved 
     would be appreciated.
