I just upgraded from CPS printing software to DCPS.  However, when I print a
text file, it prints line numbers and headers.  I don't want this but can't
figure out how to shut it off.  Suggestions?  Thanks.

We have/had the same problem when we upgraded DCPS when printing out *.com

PROBLEM:

When printing out a file, called TEST.COM, the printout puts the name of
the file at the top of every page, small line numbers at the beginning
of every line, and a background of shaded gray lines on the page (similar
to older green lined tractor feed paper).

Note: This did not happen when DECprint Supervisor V1.0 was used.


ANSWER:

This occurs only if the user has the PLUS license installed and the AUTO
datatype (which is the default) is assigned to the queue.

DECprint Supervisor V1.1 has new functionality.  The printout appearance
is based on the LIST datatype being used.  The LIST datatype will be used
if the file extension is COM.  Autodetection will choose the LIST datatype
based on the setups in the file:

    SYS$COMMON:[SYSLIB]DCPS$FILE_EXTENSION_DATA_TYPE.DAT_DEFAULT

A customized version of this file can be created:

    SYS$COMMON:[SYSLIB]DCPS$FILE_EXTENSION_DATA_TYPE.DAT

where the COM extension listing is removed from the LIST area or moved to
the ANSI area.
