A Little background on what an I-Opener is...

The I-Opener is an internet device sold by Netpliance (also available at circuit city) for $99.00.
It runs there custom software under QNX and only using their own dialup service

What's inside of the I-Opener:

Ok, now to the hack !!

To get this puppy running Linux, you need to add a 2.5" hard drive (unless you can get it all in 16mb of flash) and you must do the install on another
machine because there is no floppy to boot from.
This unit has an internal 44pin ide header but they mirrored the pinout so you have to swap every two wires (pin 1 on hd is pin 2 on motherboard)

As you can see above, you need to make a bracket to mount the hd, I used an aluminum bracket mounted off the heatsink.
Here is a view from the backside. You also have to notch the heatsink for the ide connector to fit.
