Well, your static routes are incorrect, the solaris box needs to list 192.168.1.1 as the gateway, the entry for the VAX is correct. On the Alpha issue UCX START ROUTING/SUPPLY. This starts RIP and enables forwarding on the alpha. Do not add routes to the Alphas machine, it already knows, how to forward packets between these networks. Once it works use UCX SET CONFIG START ROUT /SUPPLY If you run RIP on all machines you don't need to setup any static routes, RIP will publish the routes dynamically. Even though it's not a top of the line routing protocol, it will do the trick. -- Jens. remove remove to send mail. wrote in message news:88uisp$9ak$1@nnrp1.deja.com... > I'm trying to use my Alpha VMS 7.1 and ucx V4.2-2 box as an IP ROUTER. > Is it possible to do it at all (i.e. what am I doing wrong) ? > > STATIC ROUTES : > _____________ ================ > | SOLARIS | ADD route 10.70.65.0 192.168.1.2 2 > +------------+ 192.168.1.2 > | > | > _____________ > |192.168.1.1 | UCX>set route 192.168.1.0/gate=192.168.1.1 > | ALPHA | > |10.70.65.124| UCX>set route 10.70.65.0/gate=10.70.65.124 > +------------+ > | > | > +-------------+ 10.70.65.21 > | VAX | > +-------------+ UCX>set route 192.168.1.0/gate=10.70.65.124 > > From VAX, I'm able to ping 10.70.65.124 but not the other side of Alpha > box (i.e. 192.168.1.1) ? > > From Solaris, I'm able to ping the nearest end of Alpha (192.168.1.1), > but not the far end (10.70.65.124) ? > > Is it possible to use this Alpha box as a router ? > If yes, What am I doing wrong ? > > TIA, Mike > > > > Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ > Before you buy.
