By: Robert Alan Byer byer@mail.ourservers.net ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is my POV-Ray for OpenVMS page. I love computer graphics and in fact one of the reasons I got into computer was because of computer graphics. Then my roomate got the first Amiga 1000 in our area and my first raytracing package was DKBTrace by David K. Buck and I fell in love with it. When I got access to a VAX I was happy to see the earlier versions of POV-Ray were supported and I loved the fact that what used to take days on the Amiga now took hours. Well, as time went on and as newer versions of POV-Ray came out, I noticed that no one was doing a VMS port which was a shame. Then the OpenVMS Hobbysit program came out so I decided that it was time to get POV-Ray running on the newer, faster platforms so hobbyist could enjoy the fun of computer graphics. So, I had some time to kill and I hammered out the compile script and some minor code changes and now POV-Ray is available to the OpenVMS market once again so enjoy. If you follow the directions below, you should have no problems in getting it up and running on your machine. Comments, bug reports, suggestions are welcome, flames will just be ignored. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1.
