Eight out of ten hackers prefer *other* operating systems. Did that recently, more or less as an excercise, mostly on VAX: 1. On Alpha set WLKSYSDSK to 1 (*before* you burn your CD) 2. On VAX I edited a few SYS$STARTUP:VMS*_50-*.com files, to cut log- file requirements. 3. Still on VAX - During startup I see an error relating to the security database, but boot continued. 4. If you have sufficient memory, create a small RAMdisk. E.g. - Apparently SYSUAF.DAT has to be writable to allow user logins. Putting a swap or page-file on a RAMdisk would seem to be a waste though... My starting point was an image-copied V7.3-1 distro to an LD disk, (V7.3 for VAX) and worked from there Mike. -- --------------------------------------------------------------------- Usual disclaimer: All opinions are mine alone, perhaps not even that.
