     It's there in VAXCRTL (VAX only), but it's not a universal
symbol.  _fstat() is accessible if you link against vaxcrtl.olb,
but if you link against vaxcrtl.exe as recommended than the linker
won't see it and you'll end up with an undefined symbol.
