[Image] [Image] [Image] [Image] PowerPassWord Description PowerPassWord acts like an agent on behalf of the user. The agent performs repetitive tasks, that the user himself has to do, thereby freeing the user for productive work. The PowerPassWord Agent receives a password synchronization request then the password is changed by a user. A replication table, defined by the system manager, tells the agent where to send the replication request. The replication request is received by the PowerPassWord Server running on replicator nodes. The server changes the password if the sender and receiving domain id matches. The user does not any longer have to log in to replicated nodes and specify a new password to have them synchronized. Unreachable nodes, and nodes not connected to the network when the password is changed, have their passwords synchronized when the node reconnects to the network. No changes of OpenVms software is needed and the normal dcl SET PASSWORD command is used. Replication functionality Three different levels of functionality can be used. 1. All users. Replication functionality is supported for all users in the system to all replication nodes. Can be used in a very secure environment. No setup needed. It’s just to startup PowerPassWord 2. Selected users and all nodes. Replication functionality is supported for users holding a special identifier to all defined replication nodes. 3. Selected users and defined nodes for each users. Replication functionality is tailored for each user. Security The PowerPassWord agent and server software is executed in a controlled environment. They are started and maintained by the system manager. The PowerPassWord server replicates passwords only when the received password information, including a domain-id, is identical on sending and receiving nodes. The local system manager, responsible for the server part, defines the domain-id used by the local system. If the local domain-id is identical with the received domain-id the received encrypted password is stored in the local UAF-file by the server. PowerPassWord event log All actions by the PowerPassWord agent as well as the PowerPassWord server are written to log files. Pricing The PowerPassWord product is marketed as an inexpensive software package with a price independent of cpu size and number of users. A PowerPassWord license is a non-transferable, non-exclusive right to use licensed software on a site. A software key is distributed enabling different number of replication nodes. Distribution media is not included in license fee.Software maintenance agreements are available. Installation kit and Documentation A Cerit PowerPassWord Reference and installation manual is included in the distribution kit. As a distribution media TK50 or 4 mm Dat tape is supported. Prerequisites OpenVms 5.4 VAX or higher. OpenVms AXP 6.0 or higher. (A special supplied routine is used for pre-Vms 6.0 versions to enable replication functionality, Server functionality is supported on all systems) [Image] [Image]
