We will begin releasing the details during next week. IMO Digital Engineering has done a bang up job of putting together a training program for Enterprise System Administrators and Network Administrators. The following is a quote from the internal memos that went out from Digital management to the engineering groups about the sessions to be presented... " These sessions should be given by engineers on-site, not product managers or marketing people." ...Digital is making the investment to do a real in-depth technical training program. The VMS group is targeting 3 sub tracks... I.T. Professionals who's interest is in core VMS. These are the folks who are looking to leverage and enhance their existing investment by such things as extending VMS's 24 x 365 capabilities with Galaxy Technologies or using VMS as a Enterprise server for Web Enabled Applications. Folks who are NOT in migration or coexistence mode but instead are focusing on VMS and it mission critical capabilities. I.T. Professionals who are exploring the OVMS and WNT seamless integration of the Affinity Program. I.T. Professionals who are deeply into Affinity i.e. "To Affinity and Beyond" ...VMS engineering has put together a program that should make attending Philadelphia a valuable use of your time no matter what flavor of VMS is your taste. The VMS group is also running something new called "Hands-On" sessions. These will be intense classroom type extend sessions (3 hours), with hardware, where you and the VMS folks will go over in-depth a particular technology. As of today (still subject to change but not likely)... Migrating from MailWorks for OpenVMS to Office Server Setting Up Web Publishing Using Office Server for OpenVMS PATHWORKS - Part 1 PATHWORKS - Part 2 24x365 Building the Cluster 24x365 Practical Operations ...there will be NO additional charge for these "Hands On" sessions but seating is limited as will be on a first come, first serve basis. There will also be a OpenVMS Engineering Hints and Kinks sessions that *registered* attendees will be able to submit questions to in advance and Digital will have answers when they arrived in Philadelphia. This will avoid the "we will get back to you" type of answers. This isn't for bug reporting. For old time's sake we signed off the product management folks doing a "VMS Update" session ;-) The UNIX group is planning 4 tracks - one per day... Monday - Digital Unix under the covers - an in-depth review of sub-systems of Digital's Unix Tuesday - Single System Install - How to best install various sub-systems of Digital's Unix Wednesday - TruClusters - How to build a cluster and not a clump Thursday - The Computer is the network ...the program will also include such other subjects as Microsoft Integration Tricks. The Unix folks will also run a Hints and Kinks like the VMS one outlined above. Finally there will be several 6 hour UNIX Tutorials on Sunday @ $195 each. There will also be session material from the Server, AltaVista, and Storage groups. There will be a Digital Listen panel run in a similar advance written questions format to the Hints and Kinks sessions outlined above. This will be for questions for Digital management related to Digital business practices and product strategies. My personal favorite - there will be the "Digital Engineering Technology Center". This will be setup and run by the engineering folks (i.e. not the tradeshow marketing folks - sorry folks no jugglers) and will be a place where you and the engineers can get down a discuss the nut and bolts of a technology or a problem. It should be set up in a round table format with appropriate hardware. BTW Ed - nice to be dealing with a content of the conference question than side issue like marketing announcement timings...
