The owners manual doesn't say what the device names will be. Actually it does: see the diagram on page 1-5. In any case, TTA0 and TTA1 are the keyboard and mouse (don't know which is which) which you can deduce by doing a SHO DEVICE/FULL on them and noting that they are both listed as "device type DECwindows input device". That leaves TTA2 and TTA3 for the DB25 (RS232) and the MMJ (RS423) connectors. Figure 1-3 on page 1-5 points to the DB25 socket as "Communications/Printer Port (TTA2)" and the MMJ socket as "Printer/ Communications Port (TTA3)". So there you have it. BTW, the S3 Alternate Console Switch is inside the _front_ door, down being normal use, up being alternate console. IF you want to use the an alternate console, Appendix A, page A-6, indicates that you should use the RS423 port, i.e., TTA3. -Ken -- Kenneth H.
